There are various types of cultural activities once you are in a foreign country, and especially if you are in Thailand. Thai massage is one of the country's cultural heritages which has been passed on through generations.

In recent years, the emergence of Thailand as a spa destination has led to unprecedented demand for Thai therapists not just in Thailand, but more importantly, the development of Thai spas throughout the world. Foreign tourists who have experienced Thai traditional massage during their stay in Thailand found the experience to be relaxing and energizing, and inevitably are curious to learn the techniques of this centuries-old tradition to provide the same therapy for their love ones back home.

This is when Artist Spa School has established and prides itself on presenting the authenticity and the art of Thai traditional massage for guests and visitors in a natural and rustic surrounding. Conducted over a half day in the morning or afternoon, participants will get to learn and enjoy Thai traditional massage with a certified Thai spa trainer and therapists.

Course Description

  • Estimated Time : 4 hours
  • Cost Per Person : 4,000 Baht per person

Based upon ancient Ayurvedic principles brought to Thailand by King Rama III and inscribed in Bangkok’s famous Wat Pho temple, the core of the Thai traditional massage treatment that improves blood circulation is a series of stretching Yoga massages that gently stretches the muscles and uses pressure to stimulate the nerve meridians of the body, causing deep relaxation and improving flexibility. Unlike most Western style massages, no oil is used throughout the massage.

The spa training course at Artist Spa School is a short 3-hours course teaching the art of traditional Thai massage. The course is completely hands-on and conducted in English, while the technical content is purposefully presented, the whole process is meant to be entertaining and a word "fun" for participants! This is an opportunity to really drive into the joy of providing traditional Thai massage and try your hands at becoming spa therapists.

Participants will learn the important pressure points in our human body from a certified Thai Spa Trainer and how these affect the various bodily functions. Once students are familiar with these pressure points, the Spa Trainer will then proceed to demonstrate the key techniques of traditional Thai massage with the assistance of a volunteer, focusing on the legs, back, shoulder and head to stimulate blood flow through a series of muscle stretching and application of pressure on the nerve meridians.

Finally, students will have the chance to practice the techniques taught on their fellow participants under the guidance and assistance of our trainer and therapists. Besides learning the massage techniques, participants will also be taught about the ingredients used to prepare the Thai herbal compress pouch, a warmed muslin poultice of Thai and Chinese herbs that are steamed and applied directly to the body in a kneading action. The traditional treatment helps to soothe muscle tension and stiffness in an herbal heat treatment.

All participants will be presented with a Certificate of Participation and as well as 2 Thai Herbal Compress pouches prepared by themselves.
